Baby or Banshee?

It's 12:26 am and Liam just finished his bottle - he never drank his last one tonight. Just asparagus & rice cereal for dinner; he wasn't interested in the bottle then. Now that he's back in his crib, he's protesting. And we're on a whole new level of screaming these days! It's a cross between a ring raith (sp?) from Lord of the Rings...or in The Princess Bride, when Humperdink raises "the machine" to 50 on Wesley. Or just plain banshee. UGH!

When Liam was sick last week, he spent most of his naps and most of he nights sleeping on mommy on the couch. And when he'd wake up, we'd walk around until he settled down again. Toward the end of the week when we started putting him back in his crib, the banshee made his appearance. We weren't sure if he was in pain - the thrush? the congestion bothering him? was he teething? Or was it just protest-crying?

We'll never know.

It's 12:32 and the screaming has been replaced by the occasional whine. And some singing! I really think he tries to sing along with the lullabies. It just sounds like, "ahhh ahhh urrr ehhh," but I think he's trying. Hopefully he's asleep for the night now (fingers crossed).

He had a really good day. We read about a dozen books, watched big chunky snow flakes fall this morning, played with Chaka until she ran and hid, jumped in the jumperoo, and played with lots of toys. I'm trying to teach Liam what a monkey says, since he pretty much makes the noise on his own anyway. I think he's starting to catch on! And that's our story for today.

Good Night, Sweet Boy!
